The Red Sox’s top three prospects began the season in Double-A Portland, and each had reasons to be motivated. Mayer’s chronic shoulder ailment made for a forgettable 2023, while Anthony and Teel had only two weeks of Double-A at-bats to finish the year.
All three are advancing through the first month to differing degrees, which is a pleasing sight for Red Sox fans.Mayer is a good shortstop, and his approach appears to be back at the plate.
