BREAKING: Lincoln Kienholz Weighing Transfer Decision – Will He Stay or Go?
Ohio State quarterback Lincoln Kienholz has yet to decide whether he will remain with the Buckeyes or enter the transfer portal. The sophomore signal-caller recently spoke about his uncertain future, noting that while he loves Ohio State, he has not made a firm commitment to staying.
With Devin Brown and Air Noland already transferring out, Ohio State’s quarterback room remains in flux. Kienholz, who would have three years of eligibility left, is expected to compete with Julian Sayin and incoming five-star recruit Tavien St. Clair for playing time next season. However, given the crowded competition, he is weighing his options carefully.
Kienholz has seen limited action in his OSU career, completing 10 of 22 passes for 111 yards. He received his most significant playing time in last season’s Cotton Bowl after an injury to Brown. Despite his limited reps, Kienholz praised new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and his system, which he believes suits his skill set well. However, he also acknowledged that playing time and development will be key factors in his decision-making process.
Speculation about Kienholz entering the transfer portal has intensified, as he faces competition not only from Sayin and St. Clair but also from transfer quarterback Will Howard, who arrived from Kansas State. Given Ohio State’s depth at the position, Kienholz might find better opportunities for playing time at another program. Reports suggest he could be among the players most likely to leave when the portal reopens.
