NFL News: Russell Wilson has chosen his team for next season after stint with Mike Tomlin and Steelers

Russell Wilson’s NFL journey has taken an exciting turn as the veteran quarterback has officially committed to the Pittsburgh Steelers for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. After a challenging stint with the Denver Broncos, where he struggled to find his form, Wilson joined the Steelers earlier this year on a veteran minimum contract of $1.2 million. This move allowed Pittsburgh to bolster its quarterback depth while benefiting from the Denver Broncos still covering a significant portion of Wilson’s salary.

Wilson’s arrival in Pittsburgh coincided with a resurgence in his performance, as he led the team to a 9-3 record atop the AFC North. Under the leadership of head coach Mike Tomlin, Wilson has flourished, particularly after regaining full health midseason. His ability to manage the offense and deliver under pressure has been pivotal to the Steelers’ success, silencing critics who doubted his ability to bounce back after his struggles in Denver.

However, Wilson’s future with the Steelers remains uncertain beyond this season. While his current contract only lasts through the end of the 2024-25 campaign, his strong performances have reignited his value in the market. Analysts predict that Wilson could command a lucrative deal in free agency, potentially similar to other high-profile veteran quarterbacks. Teams in need of an experienced and proven signal-caller are likely to show interest, especially with a relatively thin quarterback draft class expected in 2025.

For now, Wilson remains focused on leading the Steelers into the postseason and making the most of his partnership with Tomlin. Whether he stays in Pittsburgh or seeks opportunities elsewhere next season, Wilson’s return to form has solidified his reputation as one of the league’s most resilient quarterbacks.
