Texas A&M has landed a significant commitment from one of Texas’ most coveted young defenders. Four-star safety Chance Collins, a standout from North Crowley High School in Fort Worth, announced that he will be joining the Aggies’ 2026 recruiting class — delivering a substantial win for head coach Mike Elko and his staff.
At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Collins is rated as one of the top safeties in the country for the 2026 cycle. His combination of high football IQ, aggressive tackling, and excellent coverage skills drew offers from top programs like Alabama, Florida, Oregon, and LSU. Despite interest from across the country, Collins chose to stay close to home.
Collins is considered one of the most complete defensive backs in the state. He joins fellow defensive commits De’Andre Griffin and Bryan Mosley, helping Elko further construct a defensive core that could anchor future SEC matchups.
Defensive coordinator Jay Bateman praised Collins for his rare combination of athleticism and versatility, calling him a “future difference-maker” in the secondary.
Collins represents a major in-state recruiting win for Texas A&M. The Aggies have placed a renewed focus on dominating the Texas recruiting scene under Elko, and Collins’ decision to stay in-state instead of heading to an out-of-state powerhouse is a testament to that effort.
Texas A&M just landed one of the top defensive players in the DFW area,” said analyst Marcus Owens. “That’s the kind of win that shows you’re serious.”
In his sophomore campaign, Collins tallied 73 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles, while also impacting games on special teams and offense. His versatility gives him the chance to play multiple roles at the next level.
With Chance Collins on board, the Aggies’ 2026 class gains a major boost. Ranked among the top classes nationally, Texas A&M is shaping up to be a future powerhouse in recruiting.
