BREAKING: Texas Hauls in Trio of 2026 Recruits Over Weekend — D-Line, Kicker, and Wide Receiver Commitments Push Longhorns’ Class to New Heights in On3 Rankings
Over the weekend, the Longhorns secured three pivotal commitments — a dynamic wide receiver, a disruptive defensive lineman, and a top-ranked kicker — sending shockwaves through the college football recruiting world. As a result of these key additions, Texas surged up the On3 Industry Team Rankings, bolstering what was already a promising 2026 class and landing them firmly at No. 14 nationally.
This recruiting blitz is the latest indication that head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are laser-focused on building the future of the program. With momentum steadily building ahead of the 2025 season, this triple commitment haul could serve as a springboard for even greater success in the coming months.
Leading the charge is local standout Jordan Davidson, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound wide receiver from Cedar Hill High School. Known for his lightning-quick acceleration and crisp route running, Davidson brings explosiveness and versatility to the Texas offense. In his sophomore season, Davidson racked up over 1,100 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns, cementing his status as one of the state’s most electrifying playmakers.
Davidson had offers from more than 20 Power Five programs, including LSU, Oklahoma, and USC. But after a recent visit to Austin and a conversation with Sarkisian about the Longhorns’ offensive vision, Davidson pulled the trigger.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Longhorns landed a major piece in Marcus Hill, a 6-foot-4, 270-pound force from Louisiana powerhouse Calvary Baptist Academy. Hill is a relentless interior lineman with violent hands, quick burst off the line, and the ability to disrupt both the run and pass game.
With offers from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State, Hill’s commitment to Texas signals a win in one of the most hotly contested battles in the region. His relationship with Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis proved instrumental in the decision.
Rounding out the weekend’s big commitments is Evan Martinez, one of the top kickers in the 2026 class. A Gilmer native with a booming leg and uncanny accuracy, Martinez was ranked among the top five specialists nationally by Kohl’s Kicking.
While kickers often don’t garner the same attention as other positions, landing Martinez speaks volumes about Texas’ attention to detail and commitment to building a complete roster.
Martinez’s consistency on both field goals and kickoffs makes him a valuable asset who could contribute early once he arrives on campus. He cited Texas’ facilities, coaching staff, and emphasis on special teams as major factors in his decision.
Following the trio of commitments, the Texas Longhorns made a dramatic leap in the On3 2026 Industry Team Rankings — climbing up to No. 14 overall. The haul improved the overall balance of the class, which now boasts high-upside players across key positions on both sides of the ball.
Texas’ 2026 class is gaining real traction,” said Charles Power, Director of Rankings at On3. “Getting elite talent from Texas and neighboring states is critical — and this weekend showed the Longhorns are well on their way.”
With the recent additions, the Longhorns now have nine total commitments in the class, including five four-star players. While it’s still early in the cycle, the tone has clearly been set: Texas is aggressively pursuing talent and winning big battles in the South.
This recruiting surge illustrates the effectiveness of Sarkisian’s approach — prioritizing high-character, high-upside athletes while maintaining deep relationships with regional high school programs. Assistant coaches like Bo Davis, Chris Jackson (WRs), and Jeff Banks (special teams) played crucial roles in closing the deals over the weekend.
The momentum generated by this wave of commitments is also expected to have a ripple effect. Texas is currently in strong position for several more top-100 recruits, and with official visits ramping up in the summer, more fireworks could be on the horizon.
In a recruiting world where momentum is everything, pulling in three commits across three different positions — including a blue-chip defensive lineman and an in-state star wide receiver — shows that Texas is locking in on its identity and its future.
