BREAKING: Arkansas Crushes Creighton with Home Run Barrage, Advances to NCAA Regional Final
Fayetteville, AR – In a dominant show of power and precision, the Arkansas Razorbacks stormed their way into the NCAA Regional Final with a 12–1 dismantling of the Creighton Bluejays, launching five towering home runs in front of a raucous home crowd at Baum-Walker Stadium. The Hogs, known for their offensive firepower all season, saved their best for the postseason, unleashing a relentless barrage that left Creighton stunned and their path to Omaha wide open.
From the very first pitch, it was clear that Arkansas had no intention of letting this be a close contest. Starting pitcher Brady Tygart set the tone early, working efficiently through the Bluejays’ lineup with sharp command and velocity. Tygart tossed six innings of one-run ball, striking out seven and walking just one. He handed the ball off to the bullpen with a comfortable lead, and the relievers kept the game under wraps.
Arkansas didn’t waste any time igniting the scoreboard. In the bottom of the first inning, leadoff man Kendall Diggs launched a solo home run deep over the right-field wall, giving the Razorbacks an immediate 1–0 lead and energizing the Fayetteville faithful. It was only the beginning of a long night for Creighton pitchers.
The second inning saw more fireworks as Arkansas loaded the bases and sophomore power hitter Jared Wegner drove a pitch into the left-center gap, clearing the bases with a stand-up double that pushed the lead to 4–0. Creighton tried to regroup, but the floodgates were wide open.
In the fourth inning, Razorback catcher Hudson Polk got in on the action with a two-run blast that sailed over the scoreboard in left field, extending the margin to 6–0. The crowd erupted again, sensing this was a special night. The energy at Baum-Walker was electric, as every swing seemed to carry postseason destiny with it.
Creighton’s lone spark came in the fifth, when they managed to scrape across a run on a sacrifice fly. But any hope of a rally was quickly extinguished.
Arkansas responded in emphatic fashion in the bottom of the fifth with back-to-back home runs—first by freshman standout Peyton Stovall, who crushed a solo shot to right field, and then by designated hitter Ben McLaughlin, who sent a towering bomb into the bullpen in left. By the time the dust settled, Arkansas had a commanding 9–1 lead.
Even in the late innings, the Razorbacks showed no mercy. Veteran infielder Caleb Cali added a cherry on top in the seventh inning, launching Arkansas’s fifth home run of the night, a two-run shot that made it 11–1. The Hogs would tack on one more run for good measure, making it 12–1 by the end of the eighth.
Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn praised his team’s focus and energy postgame. “This was a complete performance. Pitching, defense, timely hitting—it was all there tonight. Our guys came out hungry and stayed locked in every inning,” he said. “That’s the kind of baseball we need to keep playing if we want to make a deep run.”
With the win, Arkansas remains undefeated in the Fayetteville Regional and moves just one victory away from advancing to the Super Regionals. They’ll face the winner of Sunday’s elimination game between Creighton and Louisiana Tech, needing only one more win to move on.
Creighton, meanwhile, will have to regroup quickly if they hope to stay alive. After being steamrolled by the Hogs’ offensive onslaught, they now face a do-or-die situation with their backs against the wall.
For Razorback fans, the night was nothing short of magical. Every crack of the bat, every strikeout, and every run brought them one step closer to Omaha. With five home runs, 12 total runs, and a lockdown pitching performance, Arkansas sent a loud message to the rest of the NCAA field: the Hogs are here, and they mean business.
