LUBBOCK, Texas — For the first time in the history of the Texas Tech softball program, the Red Raiders stand atop the Big 12 Conference.

In a weekend that will be remembered for years to come, Texas Tech delivered a thrilling three-game sweep over Arizona State, clinching their *first-ever Big 12 regular-season championship* and automatically securing a bid to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The victory didn’t just make history — it electrified Lubbock and sent a message across the college softball landscape.

Heading into the final series of the regular season, the Red Raiders knew what was on the line: win all three games and claim the program’s first Big 12 title. Anything less, and their fate would rest in the hands of other teams. But this team, guided by head coach Craig Snider, refused to leave anything to chance.

From the first pitch to the final out, Texas Tech showed poise, power, and relentless determination. The Red Raiders took Game 1 in dramatic fashion, coming back from a two-run deficit to win 6–4. Game 2 saw senior pitcher Maddie Price deliver a masterpiece, striking out eight Sun Devils while giving up just three hits in a 3–0 shutout. And in Game 3 — the title decider — Texas Tech’s bats exploded for a five-run sixth inning, ultimately securing a 7–3 victory and the historic sweep.

The crowd at Rocky Johnson Field erupted as the final out was recorded. Players embraced, fans cheered, and for a moment, time stood still in West Texas. A program that had long been searching for a defining breakthrough had finally found it.

The 2025 Red Raiders didn’t just win — they dominated. With a conference record of 16–5, Texas Tech soared past perennial Big 12 powerhouses like Oklahoma and Texas. Their success this season was fueled by a potent offense, lockdown pitching, and the leadership of experienced veterans.

Sophomore slugger Rachel Vega, who launched her 17th home run of the season in Game 3, summed it up best: “This is what we dreamed about. Every lift, every early morning — it was all for this.”

The transformation of Texas Tech softball over the last two seasons under Coach Snider has been nothing short of remarkable. Inheriting a team that had struggled for consistency, Snider instilled a culture of accountability, resilience, and belief. Now, with a Big 12 trophy in hand and an NCAA Tournament ticket punched, the Red Raiders are no longer just a team on the rise — they’re a force to be reckoned with.

While the regular-season title is historic, Texas Tech’s season is far from over. With the Big 12 Tournament looming and the NCAA Tournament on the horizon, the Red Raiders are hungry for more. The win over Arizona State not only sealed the conference crown but also ensured Texas Tech will be dancing in May.

“This group has battled all season long,” said Snider after the series. “We’ve faced adversity, we’ve grown together, and now we’ve earned this. But we’re not done yet — we believe we can make a deep run.”

Texas Tech now turns its attention to seeding for the NCAA Tournament. With their impressive resume — which includes series wins over top-25 opponents — the Red Raiders are expected to host a regional for the first time in school history.

With momentum at their backs and history in their hands, Texas Tech is set to enter the postseason as one of the most dangerous teams in the field. Their combination of explosive offense, veteran leadership, and elite pitching gives them all the tools needed to contend for a national championship.

More importantly, their Big 12 title signifies a turning point for the program. Texas Tech softball is no longer living in the shadow of giants — they’ve joined them.

As celebrations continue in Lubbock, fans, players, and alumni alike can take pride in a season that changed everything. From the roar of the home crowd to the tears of joy on senior night, this championship was more than just a title — it was a culmination of belief, effort, and heart.
