Texas Tremor: Longhorn Trio Declares for 2025 NFL Draft – Outland Trophy Winner Kelvin Banks Jr. Leads the Charge

The Texas Longhorns football program, known for producing NFL-caliber talent, is once again making waves as three standout players have declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Headlining the group is Kelvin Banks Jr., the dominant offensive lineman and recent recipient of the prestigious Outland Trophy. Alongside him are wide receiver Xavier Worthy and defensive end Barryn Sorrell, both of whom have also left their marks on the program and college football landscape.

Kelvin Banks Jr., a junior offensive tackle, has been the cornerstone of Texas’ offensive line since his arrival in Austin. Known for his exceptional strength, agility, and football IQ, Banks earned the Outland Trophy in 2024, cementing his status as one of the nation’s premier linemen.

Banks was instrumental in protecting quarterback Quinn Ewers and opening lanes for the Longhorns’ potent rushing attack, which helped Texas secure a Big 12 championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff. His dominance in the trenches didn’t just stop at statistics; Banks consistently neutralized some of the best pass rushers in college football, proving his NFL readiness.

“I’m forever grateful for my time at Texas,” Banks said in his announcement. “The brotherhood, the fans, and the coaching staff helped shape me into the player I am today. I’m excited to take the next step and represent the Longhorns at the professional level.”

NFL scouts are already projecting Banks as a top-10 pick, with his rare combination of size, technique, and leadership making him an attractive prospect for teams in need of offensive line reinforcements.

Xavier Worthy, Texas’ electric wide receiver, has also declared for the draft after a stellar collegiate career. Known for his blazing speed, crisp route running, and knack for making big plays, Worthy has been a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Over three seasons, Worthy racked up over 3,000 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns, consistently delivering highlight-reel moments. His ability to stretch the field and create mismatches against defenders made him a focal point of the Longhorns’ offense.

“Playing at Texas has been a dream come true,” Worthy shared. “The experiences, the challenges, and the triumphs have all prepared me for this moment. I’m ready to take my game to the highest level.”

Analysts project Worthy as a late-first to early-second-round pick, with his elite athleticism and production making him a valuable asset for NFL teams looking for a playmaker on the outside.

Rounding out the trio is defensive end Barryn Sorrell, a relentless pass rusher who has been a key figure in the Longhorns’ defense. Sorrell’s quick first step, power, and ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks earned him All-Big 12 honors in 2024.

Sorrell’s journey to the NFL has been marked by perseverance and consistent improvement. He led Texas in sacks during his final season, showcasing his ability to deliver in critical moments. His blend of physicality and technique has caught the attention of NFL scouts, who see him as a potential day-two pick with significant upside.

“Texas has been my home, and leaving it is bittersweet,” Sorrell said. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished as a team, and I’m ready to take everything I’ve learned to the NFL.”

The departure of Banks, Worthy, and Sorrell marks the end of an era for the Texas Longhorns, but their contributions to the program have left a lasting impact. Head coach Steve Sarkisian praised the trio, saying, “These young men represent the best of Texas football. Their talent, work ethic, and leadership have been instrumental in our success. I have no doubt they will excel at the next level.”

The 2025 NFL Draft will be a defining moment for these Longhorns as they transition to professional football. For Texas fans, the excitement of seeing their stars shine on Sundays will be a testament to the program’s ability to develop elite talent.

As the draft approaches, Banks, Worthy, and Sorrell are expected to generate significant buzz, and their performances at the NFL Combine will only solidify their positions as top prospects. The Longhorns’ trio is poised to make a lasting impression on the NFL, carrying the proud tradition of Texas football into the future.
