The Arkansas Razorbacks’ hard-fought season finale against No. 24 Missouri was overshadowed by a distressing injury to defensive end Landon Jackson. The game, which ended in a narrow 28-21 loss for Arkansas, took a somber turn late in the first half when Jackson sustained a neck injury while attempting to tackle Missouri’s running back Jamal Roberts. The Razorbacks’ medical staff immediately attended to Jackson, spending approximately 10 minutes on the field before transporting him to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Reports confirmed he had movement in his extremities, offering some relief amidst the tense atmosphere.

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman, who was coaching from the press box due to an upcoming hip surgery, expressed concern and admiration for Jackson. “Landon is not only a standout player but also a tremendous leader and person,” Pittman said. The sight of Jackson being carted off deeply affected the team and fans alike, casting a shadow over what was expected to be an intense SEC rivalry game.

The injury occurred during a high-stakes matchup in snowy conditions at Faurot Field, where both teams battled for dominance. Arkansas mounted a valiant effort, with standout performances from Ja’Quinden Jackson, who scored three rushing touchdowns, and wide receiver Andrew Armstrong, who recorded 128 receiving yards. However, critical turnovers and late-game heroics by Missouri quarterback Brady Cook ultimately sealed the Tigers’ victory.

Despite the loss, the Razorbacks showed resilience, with players and staff rallying around their injured teammate. Jackson’s contributions throughout the season had been pivotal to Arkansas’ defensive efforts, making his absence in the second half particularly challenging.

As the Razorbacks reflect on a challenging 6-6 season, Jackson’s injury serves as a reminder of the physical risks inherent in the sport. While the immediate focus remains on his recovery, Arkansas fans and teammates alike are hopeful for his swift return to the field.

The game was a bittersweet conclusion to Arkansas’ regular season, marked by moments of individual brilliance but overshadowed by the concerning injury to one of its most valued players.
