Missouri Triumphs Over Arkansas in Snowy Thriller, 28-21
In a dramatic finish at Faurot Field, No. 24 Missouri clinched a 28-21 victory against Arkansas, thanks to Brady Cook’s 30-yard rushing touchdown with just under two minutes left. Cook, who completed 10 of 20 passes for 168 yards, also contributed 63 yards on the ground for the Tigers, showcasing his dual-threat abilities.
The game was fiercely contested in snowy conditions. Following Cook’s decisive touchdown, he connected with Luther Burden III for a two-point conversion, extending Missouri’s lead to seven. Reflecting on the performance, Cook described it as a “fourth-quarter win all the way to the end.”
Missouri’s success was bolstered by Marcus Carroll, who recorded 90 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Carroll’s physicality stood out in the challenging weather, with head coach Eli Drinkwitz commending his ability to gain tough yards despite icy conditions.
Arkansas mounted a strong challenge, led by Ja’Quinden Jackson, who rushed for 87 yards and scored all three of the Razorbacks’ touchdowns. Wide receiver Andrew Armstrong was also impressive, hauling in nine catches for 128 yards. Quarterback Taylen Green completed 21 of 35 passes for 229 yards and added 53 rushing yards, playing a key role in keeping Arkansas competitive.
The game wasn’t without controversy, as a post game scuffle broke out between the teams. Despite the tension, Drinkwitz expressed respect for Arkansas, emphasizing the competitive spirit on display.
Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman, who coached from the press box due to an upcoming hip surgery, lamented critical turnovers that led to Missouri scores. “It’s hard to beat a Top 25 team with mistakes like that,” Pittman said. The Razorbacks also dealt with the frightening injury of defensive end Landon Jackson, who was carted off the field following a neck injury. Jackson was taken to the hospital as a precaution but had movement in his extremities.
The Tigers’ defense stood firm late in the game, securing Missouri’s 10th consecutive home win. This victory improved their record to 9-3 (5-3 SEC), while Arkansas finished the season at 6-6 (3-5 SEC)
